Kiwa SCM car alarm installation

An alarm system for your car is essential if you want to be sure of optimal protection. There are several reasons why considering a car alarm installation is definitely worthwhile. We would be happy to tell you more about them!

Car alarm installation

First, of course, it is protection against theft and burglary. The last thing you want once you have bought a new car is for it to be stolen or broken into. A car alarm will help prevent this and will deter any thieves. After all, they don't like to be noticed and so installing an alarm in the car is a good idea. Furthermore, it is important for insurance purposes, should something happen. Insurance for your car is often very expensive, but with an alarm system it can be more economical. Besides providing security, some car insurance companies offer discounts on your insurance when your car is equipped with an alarm system or it is simply a requirement of the insurance company.

Looking for the best alarm system? Then look to see if the alarm has an SCM certificate. SCM stands for Motor Vehicle Security Certification Foundation, this is an institute authorized to issue certificates for theft prevention within our country. Kiwa SCM assesses which alarm systems are or are not suitable for this certificate based on various criteria, so one knows that an SCM-registered system is a guaranteed functioning alarm system. Many insurance companies today only accept an SCM alarm system. Thus, should you purchase an alarm system that is not SCM-registered, it may affect the insurance payout, should you experience burglary, theft or the like. This is the reason we at Adaptive Automotive only work with Kiwa SCM alarm systems when it comes to security. You can also read more about other leading brands we work with here . The SCM uses different alarm classes that we will briefly elaborate on.

Alarm class 1

As mentioned, there are several alarm classes within the Kiwa SCM certificate. The first alarm class ensures that it is only possible to start the car after own authorization. This authorization can be given by means of a pass or badge. The system is equipped with a double immobilizer, an anti-jamming system and an LED indicator.

Alarm class 2

The second alarm class is an alarm system without ramp detection. It is equipped with interior and perimeter detection and ensures that unauthorized entry of the vehicle is noticed. The system is equipped with a dual immobilizer, perimeter detection, interior detection, acoustic signaling and optical signaling.

Alarm class 3

Next is the third alarm class. This is an alarm system including ramp angle detection. It contains all the functionality of alarm class 2, plus inclination detection, which ensures that the car is protected against unauthorized entry as well as jacking or towing your vehicle.

Alarm class 4

This is followed by alarm class 4. This is a vehicle tracking system combined with alarm class 1. The tracking system is automatically disabled after unlocking your vehicle, but ensures that it can be tracked, traced and blocked by the Private Alarm Center in case of theft. You do need to take out a subscription with the PAC for a monthly fee.

Alarm class 5

Finally, there is the fifth alarm class. This class also has the vehicle tracking system, but in combination with classes 1 and 3. The Class 3 alarm system ensures that the vehicle tracking system is activated, so you are always aware of the location of your car when it is stolen. Again, the Private Alarm Center is at your service with a subscription.
